CCP Falcon wrote:IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MAC USERS!Today we released an update to the client that adds download on demand functionality. Unfortunately, this functionality is not backwards compatible with the old Clonemaker. Fear not though, as we have resolved this issue and you can download the compatible version here. To summarise, each clone would create its own unique repository of cached files which greatly increases the space requirements if using cloned clients. To fix this, you will need to delete any existing clones that you use, and recreate them using the new version of Clonemaker linked above. Please give us feedback or raise any queries you have in this thread. OK, that may be why I got 3 crashes today. I was using old clones.

Ive been monitoring the downloading by the clones I made. I made new ones as recommended by CCP. They are still downloading the ResFiles all their own. The folder is up to 1.2 gig, just flying around Jita for 15 minutes.

Im not sure how to stop that fps drop. Ive seen things like that the entire time Ive played eve. As for capping the fps, look for the setting "interval immediate" In the graphics tab of the esc menu.It can be set to different things. Try interval one or two.
That might even help your fps drop. It gives the graphics co-processor a little time to stay caught up when there is a big change.

I'm a bit confused I thought do to the famous Mac bug where we crash if you download stuff in the background that the Mac wasn't getting the download on demand? I believe a DEV mentioned this a week or so ago in the Sisi feedback thread. So has something changed with the crashing while downloading, or did we just unleash a wave of crashes on newbies who think they can run this on their mac? We introduced a workaround for that issue. We're hoping that come the next Cider upgrade this will not be an issue at all. Is there a time frame for that new cider upgrade? Days, weeks, months, or years away?

Aye. Download on demand has two options for PC users: Actual DoD, and pre-download everything. Due to a bug in Cider, Macs freeze when eve is running and a download is taking place. So CCP locked the mac client to the pre-downloading everything option.

Last night I had a similar experience with in-space graphics items not showing. I was running three clients, mining, and doing some web browsing with FireFox. One client locked up ( not too uncommon if you run 3 clients and web browse). Oddly, it eventually reported an exception and a cider run-time error. (It use to just stay locked up forever. CCP, did you do something? Something that will help you figure out these lock-ups?) I let the crash reporter do its thing.
I re-logged the crashed client. Later I warped everyone to a POS. One client could not see the tower, or any POS modules or the force field bubble. They showed on the overview, and the brackets in space showed, but none of the graphic elements. I decided enough is enough, quit all the clients, re-started the computer, and logged everyone back in.
